Roofing contractor serving Highland, Maryland

Big lots, long driveways and a lot of tree cover. Highland roofs age differently than the ones in the developments, and we have been working on them since 1988.

What tree cover does to a Highland roof

Highland is mature trees and large parcels, and that shapes almost every roofing problem we see out here. Heavy canopy means constant organic debris in the gutters, shaded north slopes that stay damp and grow moss and algae, and limbs close enough to scour shingles every time the wind gets up.

The practical effect is that a Highland roof often fails unevenly. The sunny south slope looks fine while the shaded side is holding moisture, losing granules and starting to lift. A contractor who only looks at the front of the house from the driveway will miss it entirely.

The housing here is also mixed in a way that matters. There are genuine older farmhouses with additions built across several decades, and there are newer estate homes with complicated rooflines, multiple dormers and long valleys. Both concentrate their problems at the transitions rather than in the open field of shingles.

Gutters deserve particular attention in Highland. With this much tree cover, guards are usually worth the money here even though we talk plenty of customers out of them elsewhere.
